HONG KONG: It seems that Carat Cheung would be retaining her title as Miss Hong Kong as TVB has decided not to recount the votes for the final round, despite admitting that there was a technical failure in the live voting system that was used to determine the winner.

According to JayneStars, TVB's Deputy Director of External Affairs, Tsang Sing Ming, had apologized for the server crash during the voting period of the recent Miss Hong Kong pageant, but added that the station would not be revising the victory earned by Carat Cheung, who was chosen as the winner by the panel of judges.

The winner of this year's pageant was supposed to be through an unprecedented voting by the audience using the live voting system, while the judges were responsible for selecting remaining two runner-ups. However, due to the servers' crash, speculated to be the work of hackers, the 5-member panel of judges had to decide the winner as well.

Despite being a fan favourite to win the title, Tracy Chu lost her claim to the title, but she accepted the results with grace as she believed it to be fair. She added that she would not appeal for a recount of the votes.

Meanwhile, Carat defended her victory by saying that she was confident that she would still have won even if the votes were recounted.

"The results have been determined and need to be accepted!" she said.

When asked if she was worried that her future career as an actress would be scarred by such a controversy, Carat merely responded that she was not worried and takes it as one of the difficulties that she must face should she become an actress in the future.

She also swore that she will work hard to gain the public's recognition.
